Welcome!

We're glad you're on board

Dear 2019 IUPUI Regatta Participant,

We are delighted to have you join us for IUPUI’s premier campus event and long-standing tradition. On behalf of the 2019 Regatta Steering Committee, we thank you for your participation. Last year we celebrated our 10th Anniversary with some big changes, and we are building on all the excitement for the 2019 Regatta!

The IUPUI Regatta began as a canoe race in 2009, but since then it has grown to be so much more. Over the past eleven years, the Regatta has rightfully secured its place as one of IUPUI’s signature events. Every September, the campus and community come together, and everyone agrees on one thing: You Gotta Regatta! Read on to discover how the Regatta became the tradition it is today by offering spirited competition, student scholarships, and an overall feeling of community.

From the canoe race to various contests, there are plenty of opportunities for spirited competition at the Regatta! The race format was updated in 2018 and greatly improved the flow of the race, featuring waves of teams taking off every minute during the preliminary round. In addition to the three race divisions (male, female, and co-ed), we are pleased to introduce a new division this year: the IU Campus Competition! We are inviting students from our fellow Indiana University campuses to partake in our competition this year to up the ante, and four champions will be crowned after the final waves.

Each year we are pleased to award the Stefan S. Davis IUPUI Regatta Scholarship to 10 deserving students. This would not be possible without the hard work and continuous support from IUPUI students, faculty, administrators, and alumni since 2009. The Regatta Steering Committee and Regatta Court collect donations for the scholarship fund via the crowdfunding platform Fundly.

Our event is filled with entertainment for all, regardless of whether you are a paddler or spectator! The Community Festival Area features rides, games, and inflatables for all ages, along with a college-hangout area, live music and performances, a dog costume contest, and more! From the Arts & Culture Fair to the food trucks and marketplace vendors, there are endless amounts of fun in store for everyone at the Regatta! To make it even better, our event is free for anyone to attend!

Going on its 11th year, the Regatta is a beloved tradition to the IUPUI campus and surrounding Indianapolis community. Last year, the Regatta proudly began its transition to IUPUI’s homecoming event with the introduction of the Regatta Court. The court is comprised of students that demonstrate outstanding leadership, and two are awarded a scholarship and the honor of becoming Regatta Royalty! As part of our new tradition, the Regatta Court kicks off the race in the morning in a royal pace boat.

We wish you the best of luck! Stay up to date with us by following us on Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat (@IUPUIRegatta) and liking us on Facebook! Post on social media using hashtags #YouGottaRegatta and #Regatta2019. Thank you for your dedication to the 2019 Regatta and to the continued expansion of this lasting tradition of the campus and surrounding community. We can’t wait for the big day, CANOE?
